The Island ReTreat is a beautifully appointed private weekender surrounded by an established garden & with views to the river. Modern fittings, comfortable couches, white timbers, glass doors to the front & rear , a combustion fire & a delightful kitchen all combine to create a very tranquil & relaxing ambience. The lounge, living & dining is open plan, with an additonal table setting on the front deck overlooking the water .
Inside, the kitchen has all the modern appliances on hand including dishwasher. One of the 2 lounge spaces has a large plasma TV & DVD screen discreetly fitted to the lounge wall. A second corner setting lounge area, looks out towards the river & the established private garden.
The master bedroom with ensuite is on the main level. Two more bedrooms are located on the lower entrance level, plus a fourth queen bedroom on main level....perfect if you are a few friends wanting a relaxing weekend away; however the maximum staying overnight is 4 guests
There is a track opposite the 'Island reTreat' giving direct access to the beach. Dangar Island has a wonderful network of tracks for those wanting to take a walk & savour an environment free from private cars. For those who prefer not to think about cooking, the Bowling Club on the island is a perfect spot for Friday & Saturday night dinner . You may also wish to discuss the options available to take a boat trip to one of the excellent waterfront restaurants in the area.
Travel is by water taxi or ferry to Dangar Island from Brooklyn. Two wheelbarrows await at the island wharf for belongings. It is an easy walk ( approx. 400m ) to the Island reTreat. Take a break on the island & enjoy the relaxed & private atmosphere of the 'Island reTreat' , just 50km from the center of Sydney.

if you are staying on a weekday, join the MailBoat around 10.00am at Dangar Island & travel up the river to settlements such as Bar Point, Milsons Passage & Marlow, delivering mail along the way. Dangar Island Bowling Club is open for Friday dinner, Saturday lunch & dinner, as well as Sunday lunch. This is a real watering hole for the residents ; a place to slip back into island tempo after a week in the city. There are usually a couple of choices for each course & the food is freshly prepared by the talented local team. TRANSPORT
Just a reminder that the island reTreat is boat access only. There are absolutely no roads to the property, which does make getting there part of the adventure!
From SYDNEY travel north along the Pacific Highway # 1 to Wahroonga & F3 FREEWAY, crossing the Hawkesbury River & immediately take the Brooklyn exit. Come back over the river a second time, on the PACIFIC HIGHWAY #83 & turn directly left in to KANGAROO POINT for your water taxi pick up. Alternatively if travelling by ferry, take the next left ( Brooklyn Rd ) & follow the sign to the ferry wharf. Allow an hour by car from Sydney, and in peak periods add 30 minutes.
WATER TAXI Option 1 $70.00 each way , up to 4 guests, phone 0400 600 111, advance bookings essential, best to also pre book return trip in advance , pick up at KANGAROO POINT, see notes above.
Option 2 $20.00 each way 2 guests..then $10pp xtra guests. Pick up Ferry wharf..see below.
Unload belongings at the wharf, and then park your car. Note there tends to be easier parking near the wharf at Kangaroo Point than at Brooklyn
FERRY departs from 'Ferry Wharf' in Brooklyn ( next left after Kangaroo Point ) Travel approx, 5km along Brooklyn Rd, turning left at the pub, & drive towards the River Boat Poastman office. Here there is a small single lane road to the left, next to the train line. Just 100m along that road is the Dangar Island Ferry Wharf. Unload your belongings & then park your car.There are no parking fees in the parking areas nearby. Note that last ferry is at 8.00pm Mon-Fri & 6.00pm weekends & Public Holidays.
